What is the ECO4 scheme?
The ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation) scheme is the latest phase of a government initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions and tackling fuel poverty. It helps homeowners and tenants make their homes warmer, more efficient, and cheaper to run by covering the cost of energy-saving improvements.
It runs from 2022 to 2026 and focuses on helping low-income households or those living in hard-to-heat homes.
How much funding can I access via the ECO4 scheme?
The amount of funding depends on your current energy rating, income, and which improvements your home needs. In many cases, the scheme covers 100% of the cost, so you could get free insulation, heating upgrades or even a full boiler replacement at no cost to you.
Who is eligible for the ECO4 scheme?
If you’re a homeowner, landlord or private tenant and receive income-related benefits, then you may be eligible to receive a government grant.
- Your household receives benefits such as Universal Credit, Child Tax Credit, or Pension Credit.
- Your total household income is below £31,000
- Someone in the home has a long-term health condition affected by the cold (e.g. cardiovascular or respiratory illnesses).
- Your property has an EPC rating of D, E, F or G.
