Cavity Wall Extraction
At Towy Valley Heating, we don’t just install cavity wall insulation; we also provide cavity wall extraction when insulation has been installed incorrectly or is causing problems in your home. Poorly fitted or unsuitable insulation can lead to issues such as damp, mould, condensation, or reduced energy efficiency.
By safely removing the old material, we prepare your walls for the right solution, often new, properly fitted cavity wall insulation that will work as intended. Our team can assess your property, remove failed insulation, and help you access ECO4 grant funding to put things right at no cost to you.

What is cavity wall extraction?
Sometimes old cavity wall insulation no longer works properly. It can trap damp, lose effectiveness, or cause cold walls. If yours is showing signs of damage, you might need extraction before fitting better insulation. The ECO4 grant might help you with the cost, let’s see if you qualify.
Benefits of Cavity Wall Extraction
Removing old, damaged insulation helps your home stay drier and warmer. It reduces damp and cold walls. After extraction, installing new insulation makes your home more energy-efficient. You’ll likely notice lower heating costs, improved comfort, and fewer health risks like mould or condensation.

Cavity Wall Extraction FAQs
Not always. The grant often pays for new insulation; removal might not be covered depending on the case. We’ll check your situation.
Look for damp patches, cold walls, visible damage to the insulation, or old insulation material that has degraded. A survey from a qualified installer can confirm it.
A specialist will use tools such as a vacuum system and air pressure to extract old insulation safely and cleanly, then prepare the cavity for new insulation.
After removal, the cavity is cleared and checked. Then new insulation is fitted properly so your walls can hold heat better and be more energy-efficient.
You may qualify if you receive certain income-related benefits, or if you’re a homeowner or private tenant in a suitable property. We can help you check.
Removal and refit of new insulation usually takes a few days, depending on the size and condition of the walls.
